Purple and blue fused bowl

In an almost mysterious combination of colours, little squares of coloured glass were fused next and on top of each other into a square glass slab. Small dots were fused on top of the slab in a second firing, and the side that rested on the kiln shelf was ground and polished for a transparent result. The glass was slumped through a round hole, and the surplus, the part where the slump rested, was cut off. The edge was finished in typical ‘van den Ham style’ by giving it an uneven or even unfinished look. Then, the edge was painted black. This is a relatively small object, a one-of-a-kind that’ll easily find a place in any collection.
